MILWAUKEE -- The Dodgers didn’t spray beer and champagne like the last time they won a series at Miller Park, but Sunday’s wild 6-5 win over the Brewers was an achievement nonetheless.

Cody Bellinger robbed Christian Yelich of a home run with a dazzling catch in the eighth inning, then homered in the ninth inning off Josh Hader for the win. Pinch-hitter Eric Thames slugged a game-tying three-run homer in the eighth off Kenley Jansen, who blew a four-out save, but got the win, pitching in his fourth game in five days. The Dodgers took this series, three games to one.

All that happened after Joc Pederson, celebrating a 27th birthday for the ages, slugged a pair of home runs. Pederson had four hits (though one was a scorer’s gift) and is now 11-for-20 with three homers and four RBIs in his career on his birthday. He is the first Dodger with a multi-HR performance on his birthday since Duke Snider in 1953. He is also the third player in MLB history with at least four hits and two home runs on his birthday, joining Philadelphia's Joe Morgan on Sept. 19, 1983, and Detroit's Kirk Gibson on May 28, 1995.

Clayton Kershaw seemed headed for his first victory of 2019 and didn’t allow a hit until Orlando Arcia’s triple leading off the fifth inning, which was followed by Lorenzo Cain’s high fly that hit the top of the left-center-field fence and bounced over for a homer. Those were the only hits allowed over six innings by Kershaw, who walked four and struck out seven, moving past Don Drysdale on the all-time Los Angeles strikeout list with 2,288 for his career, now trailing only Don Sutton (2,696).
