Put Lou Williams In The Hall Of Fame For What He Just Did To The Warriors - Deadspin

The L.A. Clippers pulled off an absurd comeback victory against the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, tying the first-round series at one-all by winning 135-131 after being down 94-63 in the third quarter. They were aided by a DeMarcus Cousins injury and a late Kevin Durant foul out, but the Clippers couldn’t have pulled off the job without Lou freaking Williams, the 32-year-old heroic showman who scored 36 and got 11 assists.
Williams, who didn’t even start and only hit one field goal in the first half, came alive in the second along with the rest of his team. And in the final minute-and-change, Williams hit a pair of enormous buckets—both of them bizarre mid-range fadeaways that looked completely ill-advised by any modern basketball standards. But Lou Williams hit them, because Lou Williams is a legend.
Williams’s gravity was also hugely responsible for the game-winner—a Landry Shamet triple to give the Clippers a two-point lead with 16 seconds left. The Warriors, understandably terrified of Lou, gave him the double team that set in motion the passes that led to their downfall.
Steph Curry’s magic failed at the other end, and then Montrezl Harrell hit his free throws to seal it. Start building that Lou Williams statue in L.A. right this minute.

Warriors fearful Cousins tore quad, sources say - ESPN

Adrian WojnarowskiESPN
The Golden State Warriors are fearful that All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a torn left quad but won't be certain until an MRI examination on Tuesday, league sources told ESPN.
The best-case scenario could be a strained quad, but there was evidence that Cousins' noncontact injury, which occurred while he was pursuing a loose ball in Monday's 135-131 Game 2 loss to the LA Clippers, was serious and season-ending, league sources said.
"There's a pretty significant quad injury ... he's going to be out for a while," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the Clippers evened the first-round playoff series at one game apiece.
Cousins missed a full year of play with a torn left Achilles suffered a year ago in New Orleans. He signed a one-year deal with the Warriors, expecting that a healthy return to play would catapult him back into the free-agent market this summer.
Cousins had shown steady progress and glimpses of his All-NBA self prior to Monday's injury, but now he could be facing several more months of rehab on the quad.

Klay Thompson wishes DeMarcus Cousins a "speedy recovery" after his leg injury and explains why the Warriors need him to make a deep run in the playoffs.
The injury occurred with 8:30 left in the first quarter after Cousins knocked away a pass from Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari. As he tried to chase down the ball, he fell to the floor before he could control the ball.
Cousins tried to get up and keep going, but once he rose to his feet, he immediately called to be taken out of the game. He then gingerly made his way back to the Warriors' locker room with team medical personnel.
ESPN's Nick Friedell contributed to this report.

2019 NFL Mock Draft: Russell Wilson traded to Giants for crazy haul, Seahawks land Kyler Murray - CBS Sports
Another week, another mock. But this is no ordinary mock. Oh no. This is the last mock before my final mock (a.k.a. real mock, a.k.a. last gasp dart throw mock) which means it's my final chance to do something weird, so let's just go ahead and trade Russell Wilson.
The Seahawks quarterback might want to get dealt, after all. At the very least, the Seahawks don't seem inclined to pay him the contract he wants by the April 15 (today) deadline he gave them. As such they have to at least consider trading him if the right offer comes along, and I think the Giants have the right offer.
In my hypothetical situation below, New York gives up its two first-round picks this year (No. 6 and No. 17) as well as a second-round pick this year AND a second-round pick in 2020 in exchange for Wilson. That's four pretty darn good picks and about as close as the Seahawks will get to the hypothetical three first-round selections they want for Wilson.
Now the good news for the Seahawks is they have a ton of picks. The bad news is they don't have a quarterback. Fortunately for them, the cards fall in such a manner that they end up being able to find one when the Cards go in a different direction at the top of the draft.
With Kyler Murray falling out of the top spot, Seattle finds a willing and able trade partner to move up to No. 3 -- in exchange for No. 6 and a second-round pick -- to land the Oklahoma quarterback.
If you hate the picks, let me know by yelling at me on Twitter @WillBrinson and make sure to subscribe to the Pick Six Podcast to get a daily NFL pod sent straight to your phone plus our weekly dose of NFL Draft action.

Cherono, Degefa get it done at Boston Marathon - ESPN

ESPN News Services
BOSTON -- The men's and women's races at the Boston Marathon ended very differently.
Kenya's Lawrence Cherono outsprinted Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa over the final few steps to win the men's race Monday. Ethiopia's Worknesh Degefa broke away from the rest of the field early and ran alone for the last 20 miles to win the women's event.
Cherono crossed the finish line in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 7 minutes, 57 seconds on Monday. That was just ahead of Desisa, the 2015 champion, who came in at 2:07:59.
Kenya's Kenneth Kipkemoi was third in 2:08:06. Kenya's Felix Kandi was fourth and 2017 champion Geoffrey Kirui was fifth.

— Boston Marathon (@bostonmarathon) April 15, 2019
It was the Boston debut for Cherono, a winner of six marathons, who most recently won the 2018 Amsterdam Marathon.
Cherono, Desisa and Kipkemoi broke away during Mile 24 and were shoulder-to-shoulder heading into the final mile. They stayed that way until Cherono and Desisa made it a two-man race with about 200 meters to go.
Desisa took the lead and appeared headed for victory before Cherono got on his left shoulder and outlasted him to the tape.
Early-morning rain ceased by the start of the race this year, with a temperature of 59 degrees. Last year's race was contested in the rain, with temperatures dipping into the mid-30s.
American Scott Fauble led the race around Mile 18, but he started to fade at Mile 21. He finished seventh, in a time of 2:09:10.
Degefa crossed the finish line in Boston's Back Bay in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, 30 seconds.
She is the eighth Ethiopian woman to win the race, and the third in seven years.
It's her first major marathon victory. She won the Dubai Marathon in 2017, setting an Ethiopian national record in the process.
A half-marathon specialist, Degefa opened up a 20-second advantage by Mile 7. It increased to more than three minutes by the halfway point.
Daniel Romanchuk won the men's wheelchair race with the fastest time ever by an American. Romanchuk crossed the finish line on Boylston Street on Monday in an official time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, 36 seconds.
Manuela Schar, meanwhile, is on her way to a sweep of the World Marathon Major women's wheelchair races.
Schar won Boston for the second time on Monday, finishing in 1 hour, 34 minutes, 19 seconds with no one else in sight. She is already the defending champion in Berlin, Chicago, New York and Tokyo. If she wins in London in two weeks, she will have swept the series.
Romanchuk is the youngest winner of the race at 20 years, eight months and 12 days. He is the first American winner since Jim Knaub in 1993.
Romanchuk finished three minutes ahead of Japan's Masazumi Soejima, who was second in 1:24:30. Marcel Hug was third, coming in at 1:26:42.
Romanchuk says: "I knew it was possible, it was just a matter of everything coming together."
Romanchuk's victory breaks up the recent dominance of Hug and Ernst van Dyk, who between them have 14 Boston Marathon victories. Hug had won the previous four Boston races.
Schar, 34, from Switzerland, was about six minutes slower than she was when she set the record in her other Boston victory two years ago.
